with a gran'daddy smile
that says,
"Hello li'l girl.
How you feelin'?"
My daddy is a smooth dude.
Look at him!
So' Ca'lina born--
Geechee don't cha know,
with a Southern charm and spirit
that says,
"I'm a proud black man."
My daddy is a smooth dude.
Look at him!
Ladies always sayin',
"Mr. Harvey sho is a nice man."
I say, "Mmmm-hmmm..."
Ladies always sayin',
"Mr. Harvey sho is neat."
I say, "Mmmm-hmmm..."
Ladies always sayin',
"Mr. Harvey sho is a good-lookin' man!"
I say, "Mmmm-hmmm..."
Ladies always sayin', "Mr. Harvey this...
and Mr. Harvey that..."
and I say, "Tell me sumthin' I don't know."
My daddy is a smooth dude.
Look at him!
They call him "octogenerian."
That means he's eighty sump'n sump'n.
They call mim "senior citizen."
I say, "Ya know, somethimes,
age ain't nuthin' but a number
and it's all about the wisdom."

uncle, friend, veteran, worker,
church member, widower...
